GENERAL OVERVIEW
(Will be followed by what is in store for each of the 12 Zodiac Signs)


The first half of 2010 will be very changeable indeed. Many will experience a strong sense of excitement but it could also leave people wondering about exactly where they stand or what they should commit themselves to. This can result in a mood of uncertainty. This will be brought about primarily because three of the slow moving planets are changing into a new Zodiac Sign for a short period of time and then changing back to the previous Zodiac Sign. It is unusual to have so much changing activity from so many major planets at once within a short space of time (which half a year is to these slower planets). These planets are Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus. Slower planets changing Zodiac Signs stimulate a sense in everybody that life is moving into new phase of activity because they place one’s attention on the next step to take. This is because the change begins to stimulate the next sector of every person’s Horoscope. Different Zodiac Signs will focus on different areas of life. What adds impetus to this new beginning sense will be the fact that all these planets move out of Mutable Zodiac Signs, which represent endings into Cardinal Signs that represent new beginnings, as the Cardinal Zodiac Signs always take us into a new season.

Jupiter Pisces on 18th January, 2010. However it will not remain in Pisces for the whole year. Jupiter will move into Aries from 6th June until 7th September. Then Jupiter will go back to Pisces from 7th September until 23rd January 2011.

Jupiter is comfortable in Pisces because it is one of the two Zodiac signs it belongs to. Pisces is reflective, it is also a mutable or ending sign and it is the last sign in the natural order of the Zodiac. This means that people need to reflect over what needs to be brought to an end. Both Jupiter and Pisces can be lazy and often uncertain about taking action though. However when Jupiter moves into Aries, the 1st sign in the Zodiac and a cardinal or beginning sign, action will be demanded by the changing circumstances. Jupiter is one of the 3 fire planets, so that once it enters Aries, a fire Zodiac Sign, the inactive side if Jupiter becomes negated. Instead of being reflective as Jupiter will be in Pisces, in Aries, Jupiter can become impulsive, in a big way. The way to make best use of this changing energy is to spend time reflecting on what needs to be brought to an end during the periods that Jupiter is in Pisces so that one is ready to act on this during the periods that Jupiter enters Aries (which will continue during 2011). This is either providing 2 chances at things or 2 stages.

Uranus will interplay with Jupiter this year. Uranus spends 7 years in one Zodiac Sign, so this creates and era in people’s lives. Uranus has been in Pisces since 2003 and will also move into Aries for a short period of time from 28th May until 14th August 2010.

Jupiter and Uranus link up together every 14 years but what is happening during 2010 is highly unusual in that they both move from the same Zodiac Sign to another and then back to the same previous Zodiac sign. Therefore this is likely to produce, in an overall sense, some very out of the ordinary circumstances that take lives in a totally new direction. This will have a universal affect, influencing all our lives, one way or another. This, more than anything, will create the greatest amount of unsettledness. Other planetary influences will simply add to it. These two planets will exactly link up in Aries on 8th June 2010 and then again when they have both moved back into Pisces on 19th September 2010. This is also highly unusual because their link up occurs out of order or the wrong way around because normally such major connections between planets take place in Pisces first and then Aries. So it is as if they create a new direction of suddenness and very likely shock that might involve aggression (in Aries), which will then need to be reflected upon (in Pisces) to gain answers to find a solution. An overtone of impatience can be expected for the whole period of time these two planets occupy Aries and more so when they are both in Aries together.

Saturn, the serious planet of commitment and responsibility begins 2010 in Libra after having moved in on 30th October 2009. Saturn had spent the last couple of years moving through Virgo, bringing all Virgo’s, one way or another to a point of needing to commit themselves personally to something about their life in a serious way. Saturn can only come into an individual Zodiac sign once every 30 years and for this reason it brings with it a significant turning point, particularly to the people born under the Zodiac Sign it occupies. This will now happen for Libran’s up until mid 2012. Saturn’s change to Libra means that all people, no matter their Zodiac Sign, will experience a new focus from Saturn in a different area of their life until mid 2012 to what the focus has been while Saturn occupied Virgo. Virgo is a mutable or ending sign, so there has been that undertone operating in the last 2 years, while Libra is one of the Cardinal or new beginning signs. So Saturn will generate new beginnings that will have commitment and responsibility attached in all sorts of ways.

Although Saturn begins the year in Libra, it will move back into Virgo for a few months before settling itself down in Libra. Saturn will remain in Libra until 8th April 2010 when it will then go back to Virgo until 22nd July 2010. In this time, between April and July, we will all need to revisit what we have been doing during 2008-09. There will be a finalising tone and the need to move on. Whatever changes occurred once Saturn moved into Libra from late October 2009 until April 2010 will provide the reasons for going through this review period and subsequently moving on. There will be a realisation that these things have a future value.

The planets Jupiter and Saturn will oppose one another 3 times in the heavens during 2010 and early 2011. These planets are a pair, in that Jupiter represents expansion and growth, while Saturn represents the opposite, of limitation and control. When the balance can be found between these two, Saturn will modify Jupiter from being too expansive and Jupiter will modify Saturn from being too limiting. When planets oppose one another, this heralds a time of “letting go”.

These two will first oppose while Saturn is in Virgo and Jupiter is in Pisces on 23rd May 2010. This will definitely be associated with letting go of the past to accommodate what has begun to develop since the beginning of the year. They will oppose again on 17th August 2010 when Jupiter has changed to Aries and Saturn has settled back into Libra. This can bring realisations that something new is not what it first seemed – perhaps it was entered into too quickly or a better way of doing things presents itself, requiring a moving on process. Their final opposition on 29th March 2011 can be a letting go of certain aspects of a matter as too much has perhaps been taken on or attempted. Although they oppose exactly on these 3 dates, they will remain in influence for the whole period of time between 23rd May 2010 and 29th March 2011. There can be an undertone of being pulled in two different directions. Also take into account the interplay of Jupiter and Uranus.

Pluto, the powerful planet of transformation has brought about major change in our lives since 2008, when it first moved into Capricorn, where it will remain until 2024. Its link up with Jupiter is creating the “Capricorn Era” until 2020, of practicality and responsibility in our lives. This has come into play with the Global Financial Crisis, which began with the link up of Jupiter and Pluto in Capricorn during 2008. Read again The Year Ahead 2009 for the influence this will have in the formative years of this era, up to and including, 2012.

Pluto will form a demanding pattern with Jupiter and Saturn, during 2010 into early 2011. This will occur when all three planets are in the Cardinal Signs of new beginnings and challenges. This will be felt most strongly by the Cardinal Zodiac Signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. It will bring major turning points that can transform life dramatically. This will also occur if one is not a Cardinal Sun Sign but has personal planets and points in their individual Horoscope in the Cardinal Signs.

Pluto will form a connection of opportunity with Jupiter in February 2010, while Jupiter is in Pisces. This will provide good prospects for Piscean’s and Capricorn’s especially but also for Taurus and Scorpio. The thing will be to take advantage of this time, as there can be a tendency to float along rather than act. Cancer’s and Virgo’s could be forced to act and separate themselves from matters that clearly no longer serve a purpose. There will be advantages in this as well as a transforming effect.

During February 2010 as well, Saturn and Pluto come into challenging contact that will maintain influence until April ‘10. This will return in August ’10, for some form of final steps or decision-making. These two planets have a great deal of compatibility where their natures are concerned in that they are both ambitious, practical and controlling. This can be a once in a lifetime experience. This type of energy being projected into one’s life is not generally the most desirable thing but if this energy can be utilised instead, through being extremely focussed and committed, then huge leaps forward can transpire. This is especially so for Libra and Capricorn but as well for Aries and Cancer, who would have to let something go. Everybody, no matter their Zodiac Sign, will experience, one way or another, this powerful energy that will be produced by the connection in the heavens of these two planets.

During July and August 2010 a confronting contact between Jupiter and Pluto will take place. Jupiter is the planet of growth and Pluto is the planet of control. There is a tone of a new direction with this occurring in Cardinal Signs. It can be a time where it is seen that certain growth has to finish in its present form, take a new path and be transformed.

From the 22nd July 2010, when Saturn moves back into Libra, until the 14th August 2010, while Uranus is still in Aries, there will be 4 of the 5 major planets, being Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto in the Cardinal Signs. These planets will be in close link up with one another, creating an intense injection of initiating energy upon us all. People born in the first few days of Aries, Cancer, Libra & Capricorn will notice this the most. The most positive use of this energy, where everybody is concerned, is to get things moving that one has been developing or considering. It is not necessary that it be fully completed, but there needs to be that sense of making a start. If this energy is not effectively utilised it will result in strong feelings of tension that can certainly spill over into massive disagreements, mainly because of the overwhelming feeling this will generate to take action. If people in general are not certain of the action they should take then a huge level of built up frustration can overflow into all sorts of situations, conditions and circumstances.

These same 4 planets will be positioned in the same Cardinal Signs between mid March and early June 2011 but they will be well spaced and will not produce the same intense energy, as mentioned above. This could also be a time of becoming more settled with matters that emerge in the 2010 period.

Mars is one of the minor or personal planets. Mars has a 2-year cycle, which is quick, in comparison to any of the major planets. On a personal level it is the planet associated with motivation and actions taken as a result. Mars tends to inject an energy that moves things along in life from one situation to the next. Every 2 years Mars goes through a retrograde (or backward cycle) and instead of spending about 6 weeks in one Zodiac Sign, it spends many months, which has the effect of holding matters at one point, generally creating frustration. This is the case when 2010 begins.

Mars moved into Leo during mid October 2009 and will remain in Leo until 7th June 2010. Between the 21st December 2009 and 11th March 2010, Mars will go in a retrograde (or backward) motion. These retrograde periods have a strong reflective quality about them. They are also times when matters from the past re-appear, in relation to the area of life Mars is stimulating. This past needs to be considered in the light of present circumstances. Where Mars is concerned, it can be a time when one can change their mind about what was motivating them and actions they have taken as a result, when Mars first entered the sign and was moving forward in motion. The retrograde period of Mars can also be a time where something that seemed to be going ahead as planned, all of a sudden goes nowhere. This does mean that there is either something incomplete about it or there are matters from the past that need to be cleared up before any moving on in new directions can take place. Once the retrograde (or backward) period is over and Mars moves forward again, matters will swiftly go ahead but this will be with a new and complete view, established through gaining more understanding, through the retrograde period.

Although this occurs with Mars being in Leo, it will stimulate every single Zodiac Sign in some particular area of their life. With Leo’s personally, Cancer’s financially, Gemini’s thoughts and decisions, Taurean’s home and family, Arian’slove life or enjoyment, Piscean’s health or daily routine, Aquarian’s relationships, Capricorn’s pressure and expectations from others, Sagittarian's long term goals, Scorpio’s responsibilities and commitments, Libran’s friends and priorities, Virgo’s patience and waiting.

If you know your Ascendant, take this sign into account as well as your Sun Sign with these Mars influences.

Mercury, the planet of communication generally has 3 retrograde (or backward) periods each year. However, in 2010, there will be 4 periods. During these times things tend to go awry as confusion reigns. These are not good times to make purchases unless it is to replace something that has broken down. Past issues come up for review, particularly for the Zodiac Sign in which these periods take place.

It is not the best time for travel as accommodation can often be mixed up, luggage can go to the wrong destination and personal belongings can be left behind. If travel cannot be avoided, double check these things but there may still be the experience of having to deal with all sorts of hold-ups which often leads to missing link-ups and getting stranded somewhere unexpectedly.

These times are extremely favourable for finding lost things, for becoming aware of past mistakes and for getting money, which has been owed, paid back. They are also times when true perception is heightened. Contemplation of matters that have been a puzzle will bring to the surface of one’s mind the true state of affairs.

Mercury will retrograde primarily in the practical Earth Signs of Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo this year, pushing everybody to review ways in which they can be more careful with money. The naturally practical earth signs will find this easier to embrace. The periods are:-

27th December 2009 until 16th January 2010 in the Sign of Capricorn

18th April until 12th May 2010 in the Zodiac Sign of Taurus

21st August until 13th September 2010 in the Zodiac Sign of Virgo

10th December until 30th December in both Capricorn & Sagittarius

ARIES
(Born between 21st March & 20th April)
Time spent reflecting, particularly to early March, upon what you must do to create levels of enjoyment in life will see you well prepared mid year when life suddenly moves into the fast lane. As well, other people and the pressure of obligations or responsibilities that come with these relationships will not be something you can ignore, initially to April. Do your best to find a balanced solution with these two aspects of your life. Late May to early September, will give you a taste of a once in a lifetime, 7-year personal cycle that you will move into from 2011. Until mid year you could suspect there are situations you cannot fully trust because the complete picture is not being presented. From April to late July you need to analyse your position, based on recent changes. This might also include your health in some way. Get rid of things that no longer serve a purpose. You will feel a changed person by late July and ready to tackle anything. You will deal with others very differently until early September but it won’t necessarily run smoothly which could aggravate you. Look at what becomes exposed. You go into another pensive time from early September until the start of 2011, which will be the year in which you can really begin to take your life down a new path, with confidence.

TAURUS
(Born between 21st April & 20th May)
A strong underlying drive to get things in order began late 2009 but the will to get on with it could be lacking until March. You will be in a better position to make decisions between April and mid June. In between time you need to focus on what your priorities need to be, more in the long-term future. This will eventually require you to let go of some things that have been part of your life for a long time. This is something you could already suspect but the part of you that doesn’t like to let things go can encourage you to resist this path. Your health may begin to require a lot more care and attention. Motivation to take action, particularly with diet and exercise, will be strong during August to mid September. Relationships or your dealings with others will have a strong focus from September onwards. Changes here, especially when it comes to the way things have been in the past, can lead to a reassessment of life’s priorities. Something that has involved you since 2003 could alter dramatically as well as unexpectedly from June to September. Although it can right itself from September, this is only temporary. You will be dealing with it again January to May 2011 when you will see the benefit and the beneficial transformations possible, that seeming lack of choice can bring.

(Born between 21st May & 20th June)
Best to avoid any hard and fast decisions until early March and even then you should be cautious when it comes to impulse. Give any opportunities time to unravel until July, when you would need to look at how they might demand major restructure at an underlying level. One set of past tensions can be replaced by another and much will depend upon the basic foundations you have put in place since late 2007. Cycles that provide more ease in creating situations you enjoy, settle from late July. With this though can come intense pressure from the desires of other people, mainly because they want their needs met, which to you can seem rather demanding and selfish. You will begin to look at priorities in life from a totally different perspective of allowing more freedom and independence between June and September. This can be either because of the expectations from others or it can add to their displeasure with what they see as a lack of concern towards them. From this you will need to sort out how important their needs are to you and review, between September and January 2011 what you are willing to accept as your responsibilities in these changing times in your life. This is a life altering turning point. Guard against somebody blocking you.

After 7 years of personal development and change you have just entered the stage where you are ready to put the foundation in place for long-term growth. You should now have a clear idea on what you want to establish in life, particularly for your future security. You have got until mid 2012 to get the basis in place. Events between April and late July can again become changeable, causing unsettledness or doubt. Be very cautious with decisions or agreements during June and July as you could make these commitments on the spur of the moment without enough careful thought, mainly because of frustration. It could also be an opportune time for bringing an end to subtle manipulations someone has been projecting your way long term. From August, you can feel more secure within yourself and ready to move on. People you deal with will be very demanding and this can certainly put you to the test. It is something you need to get used to and not shrink away from. Responsibilities and obligations can alter unexpectedly and suddenly between June and September. This will be a taste of what a new 7 year cycle will be about that begins in earnest in 2011. It is meant to get you to review your future goals from a changed perspective from September until 2011.

(Born between 23rd July & 22nd August)
You have been changing on the personal side during the last 5 years. An intensified level of self-confidence or determination to get things moving has kicked in since October ’09. Until March there can be a need to clear the past so you can really move ahead up to June. This is only the beginning of life becoming busier until mid 2012. Don’t look upon anything as permanent in this time, as you could change your mind a lot. Communication, gathering of information, learning not only about what you need to know but what others expect, can be part of this process. Slow yourself and your mind down, so that you can deal with details properly this year and it will pay dividends in the future. High levels of optimism can spur you on during June to September but you will find yourself going back to the reality of what others expect from you until 2011 begins. Paying more attention to your health than you have needed to in the past is likely to be the case. This is long term, so get used to it although you will be more inclined to mentally reject this need. You will do so at your peril. A person whose desire to be generous towards you, can open up opportunity for you to transform your daily routines so that you can focus on your general well being. Take advantage of this.

VIRGO
(Born between 23rd August & 22nd September)
You should have learnt a lot about yourself since late 2007. This next stage is to realise what you value most from these experiences and is worth further development on your part. You will want to settle down to this but things won’t be straight forward before August. Your energy level could be especially low until March, then slightly improving until June. This is life’s way of ensuring you rest and contemplate your position. It is the means that brings true facts to the surface. In June and July your energy level will pick up and so will your self- confidence. You will see not only where you stand in life, based on your experiences since late 2007 but also what you want for yourself, more clearly than you ever have before. It is a major turning point on a personal level. Other people will show their appreciation of your efforts more, freeing you to move along rather swiftly to late October. You have much to look forward to for many years to come, as your ability to create situations you enjoy intensifies. The commitment required to put this in place can put you under a lot of pressure until mid 2012. The main thing you have to learn from this is persistence in focussing on your own abilities and being comfortable about who you are. The rest will magically fall into place.

LIBRA
(Born between 23rd September & 22nd October)
You have recently entered a new 7-year cycle of personal development that will be like no other you have experienced. The next 2 years will be filled with challenges that you should find exhilarating. If you don’t, it means you are attempting to avoid the challenge of life. You need to watch weight gain to June and then again from September to late January 2011. These are periods when you should do more exercise, though your inclination to do so will unlikely lean that way. From April to August things will slow down and a lack of clarity can develop. Look at this as an opportunity to clear away things from the past that you realise you don’t want in your future. Combined with this from June can be sudden changes, unpredictability and even excitement projected into your life by others but be aware that you may not be seeing the full picture – they are likely more independent than you realise. Be most careful of impulsive actions on your part during August to mid September in response to others, most particularly if it means changing your life big time at an underlying level. Once entered into, it could prove very difficult to change. You have to learn to take actions in an upfront manner in relation to what you want from life. Others will have their own agenda.

SCORPIO
(Born between 23rd October & 21st November)
An underlying holding back theme has begun in life that will last until mid 2012. This will demand that you learn to be patient and contemplative. Your ability to tune into the heart of a matter will intensify but this may provide you with information that you would prefer to ignore. Involved in this will be the need to bring something to an end. Between April and August you need to reassess your priorities, based on altering obligations that have brought other things to a standstill, which you didn’t necessarily see coming. As a diversion to mid-year, you need to occupy yourself in enjoyable activities that provide a creative outlet. From June to September, regular routines will be difficult to maintain as endings or the unexpected require some serious decision making. Watch your health, particularly if you find little time to maintain your usual fitness routines. You could gain weight easily. From mid September to late October you will find your energy level as well as self-confidence lift. Matters will begin to move forward, giving you a greater sense of peace and harmony. Don’t believe this will allow you to escape completely from being held back. It is more a time for you to weigh up the type of actions you need to develop to deal with your situations during the next 2 years.

SAGITTARIUS
(Born between 22nd November & 21st December)
The interplay between unpredictability at the basis of your life and responsibilities you have had to take on during the last 2 years will now encourage you to look at your priorities in a more pragmatic manner. You will be challenged, during the next 2 years, to keep better control of your finances. If you do so it will open you up to exciting opportunities long term. Up to March, the prospect of going back to something you have done in the past, as a means to further your future, can be most beneficial. You will forge ahead easily to June. Embrace any obligations from April to August because they will all be about laying down foundations for future growth that will ultimately be beneficial. It might seem too much, but at the same time make you aware of what you can reasonably handle. It will make you face the fact that to grow and develop something in life there is a need to sacrifice something. Otherwise it all becomes too much and you accomplish little. The growth side will have more free play from September to late January 2011. During November into early December your confidence will lift. You should look at what you want to accomplish for the following 2 years. The need to review your finances and/or what you then realise is important, should not be overlooked.

CAPRICORN
(Born between 22nd December & 19th January)
Events of the last 2 years have given you a taste of the major personal transformation cycle that will influence your life for many years to come. You have been encouraged to view your future from a new and different perspective, while experiencing personal changes that led to evaluation of matters important last year. This year you will have little choice but to commit yourself and make some decisions. Leave room for change though. When putting initial decisions in place up to mid-year you will have certain expectations with the way matters will become structured as a result. However an element of unpredictability will enter the equation June to mid August that will require you from September onwards, to go back and rethink things until late January 2011. It might also be necessary for you to gather information or learn more in some way during this time. This could incorporate increased communication or running around. Contracts and agreements could be involved. The desires others have of you will be very intense to mid-year after which they ease and can altogether change, even end. This may contribute considerably to being in a position to begin thinking about putting into place a totally different basis or framework for your future.

(Born between 20th January & 18th February)
You have started on a new path last year, probably with mixed feelings. These have more than likely been generated from influences projected into your life from the needs of others. Up until mid March, others can become very demanding yet changeable, leaving you in a position of not knowing exactly where you stand with them. From April to August you need to cut these ties, however emotional you feel about doing so. Your desire for personal freedom will be strong to mid-year and this will encourage you to create opportunity by making decisions of more an adventurous nature from June to September. Then you need to turn your attention towards what you want to commit yourself to in the long-term future. This can challenge any deep-seated doubts you have about yourself. The whole thing is that total results will not be demanded of you overnight. These next 2 years have a preparation and learning tone to them in which you need to initially focus on what is important at a personal level. Then you decide on the decisions that will need to be made and any information you might need to acquire to enable such a course of action. During this process you will very likely discover hidden strengths that can reveal themselves through discussion of secrets.

PISCES
(Born between 19th February & 20th March)
Not only your life but also you have changed a lot since 2003. Much more will begin to grow, particularly to mid-year, providing many opportunities to revamp your personal position. A lot will depend on any major transformation of your priorities during the last 2 years. Breaking away from being held responsible by others could be necessary between April and August. This could lead to more subtle yet exaggerated pressure from others. Your health and general well being requires attention, particularly to March but also to June so that you can sustain your own position. This is also a time where you need to pay attention to details and be prepared to alter daily routine. You can suddenly realise the value of exerting your independence during June, provoking a test of wills and challenging you to stand by your transformed priorities. Not that others will give up – they will maintain focus on their own position and be prepared to battle things out to mid September. By this time you can have a feeling of being back to where you started but with increased personal awareness about what you have to look for to gain greater satisfaction from life. 2010 and up to mid 2011 is providing you with unique opportunities you have never had before nor will have again.
